ANTIFOULING DEVICES HARSONIC
ECOLOGICAL CLEANING AND BIOFILM REMOVAL
Solutions for industry:
Harsonic is an ultrasonic device that is an excellent solution for the propellers and hull of ships, yachts and other vessels against overgrowth by algae, lichen, shells or mussels. Fouling of these parts reduces hydrodynamics, increases fuel consumption and causes surface corrosion. Competitive methods of preventing hull fouling are often ineffective, require additional treatments and harm the environment due to their toxicity. Harsonic is highly effective in its performance: it has low power consumption (6W), eliminates annual hull cleaning expenses, increases vessel speed due to a clean bottom. Reduced friction of the underwater part of the hull results in lower fuel consumption.
REDUCTION OF OPERATING COSTS
The unique, patented ultrasonic technology prevents the build-up of harmful biofilm and therefore increased operating costs. Biofilms have an adverse affect on all types of surface (machinery, sensors and equipment). The Harsonic brand device eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming cleaning of overgrown surfaces.
SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT
Chemical-free biofilm removal, unlike traditional cleaning methods, is a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution.
What is a BIOFILM? A biofilm is a complex multicellular structure made up of different types of organisms, which is surrounded by a mixture of organic and inorganic substances produced by them. It is formed on wet surfaces: ship hulls, heat exchanger pipes, pipelines, drinking lines, tanks, swimming pools, hot tubs, etc. Biofilm is the cause of many contamination problems. The biofilm traps micro-organisms that are resistant to standard disinfection processes because the biofilm protects the micro-organisms from destruction.
Fouling and sediment problems include, but are not limited to:
– attachment of barnacles, mussels, oysters and algae
– the accumulation of salt, rust, chalk
– development of a single-cell bacterium
– clogging of filters, piping.
